Joni Arredia’s journey to your doorstep began over twenty years ago with a single, entrepreneurial step.

By the early 1980s, an upbeat, interactive exercise phenomenon had begun sweeping the nation: Jazzercise. As an instructor for this program, Joni moved onto the stage – a familiar platform for a girl who had grown up performing in countless musicals, plays, and dance exhibitions.

From this vantage, Joni discovered a new sense of belonging and purpose. Her students were enthusiastic and passionate, but their positive reactions stemmed more from the encouragement she provided than from the exercise she taught.

With this knowledge, Joni opened her own Jazzercise franchise in 1982. She focused on helping her students to discover their inner beauty—to become happier on the inside while improving their physical well-being. And her clients responded: within no time at all, Joni was dancing, sweating, and smiling with 500 students each week.

Her work with Jazzercise led to a pivotal opportunity for certification in Covert Bailey’s renowned Fit or Fat curriculum. Joni’s natural stage presence coupled with her enthusiasm for physical fitness, rendering her an ideal voice for the program.

The Stage

Joni soon began speaking on behalf of Covert Bailey regularly, blending her fitness background and her natural penchant for motivational speaking to promote a package of total health. But her adventure was just beginning.

Through her work with Jazzercise and Fit or Fat, she began to examine her own path more closely. Her success with these programs helped Joni realize that she had her own message to share—one of health, acceptance, and happiness.

In 1987, Joni’s personal journey found a voice and a greater purpose. In a pivotal move, she founded PERC Inc. (Personal Energies, Resources, and Capabilities) and began speaking and inspiring audiences of all backgrounds with her personalized message of hope.

The Page

The motivational programs growing out of PERC Inc. elicited a thrilling response, but after a few years, a pattern began to emerge: Immediately following one of Joni’s speaking engagements, her clients were energized and passionate. But after a few weeks, the challenges of day-to-day living had begun clouding their positive intentions.

She could inspire from the stage, but how could she keep audiences motivated in the long term? Simple: It was time for Joni to hunker down and get writing. Within a few short (and very busy) years, she had written two poignant books that supported and expanded the message PERC was built on.

But that’s not all she did. In her ongoing quest to increase her experience and knowledge, Joni chose to publish her own work. Through reading, workshops, questions, and lots of trial and error, Joni learned the ins and outs of publishing, from draft to distributor, manuscript to market.

Building PERC Publishing was a challenging, time-consuming process, and one full of deep reward. Today, with two books under her belt, Joni has established herself as an international author and a full-service publisher.

The Canvas

Of course, Joni’s creative thirst was not quenched with writing alone. For years, she had nursed an interest in painting. And in 2001, when she met Gloria Adams, her curiosity was finally satisfied.

An award-winning artist herself, Gloria welcomed Joni into her home—an environment teeming with steadfast encouragement and love without judgment. It was a safe, inspiring vantage from which to explore a different art of expression. With Gloria’s support and guidance, Joni began communicating her message through a beautiful new medium.

Within no time, she began promoting and selling her artwork across the USA through galleries, art shows, and her own studio.

Today, Joni’s paintings hang in homes and businesses nationwide, and her Gorgeous Chubbies series garners particular interest. Like most of her artwork, this collection explores the inherent worth of all human beings—whatever their shape, history, or passion.

The Future

Today, through her art, writing, and inspirational speaking, Joni shares her message with the world—a message of hope, growth, and joy. While her motivation comes from within, she is inspired, first and foremost, by the people around her. “Everything I’ve done has been driven by helping people get excited about who they are as human beings,” Joni explains with a smile. “People drive me to do everything I do.”

And the list of activities continues to grow. Recently, Joni began pursuing her education as an actor, and through this work is developing a deeper understanding of human character, emotion, and action.
