Dali
30 x 38 original oil on canvas
My late stepfather, Tom O’Reilly took this conspicuous picture of Salvador Dali in 1972 in Cleveland for the grand opening of Dali’s museum. At the time, Tom was the head photographer for the Toledo Blade. Mr. O’Reilly walked right up to Dali with his trusty camera in hand and stood about two inches from his face and ASKED if he could shoot his picture, voila. At his home this year I saw this picture along with many other spectacular photos he took before his retirement twenty years ago and ASKED if I could give it my interpretation. My generous stepfather gave me his blessing. There’s no doubt in my mind, Dali’s spirit was in the studio guiding me.
